Interesting story to this artist. Once a set designer for PeeWee’s Playhouse, he later sought the extreme opposite and began creating traditional landscapes. In an attempt to create something different and unique, he began using painted thrift-store finds and adding things like monsters to them, but later settled on a childhood passion: letters and words. Pieces of strangers’ conversations and snippets of everyday language. Incorporated with the kitsch of the paintings, I think the completed works are strange, not always legible, but certainly quirky.
