Looking around Flickr today, I fell upon a term I’d actually never heard before.
Bokeh is derived from Japanese boke, a noun form of bokeru, “become blurred or fuzzy.” It basically refers to the areas of photographs that are out of focus due to a shallow depth of field. I’ve always been a little intrigued by the halos created by lights in photos, so I was excited to find out there are large amounts of people who go after these halos on purpose!
Here are a few that I found.
I borrowed all these from flickr, here.
